Message from the Director of Bands TCHS

Dear Parents and Members of the Band Family,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2010-2011 edition of the Wildcat Band Program. Parents, with your help and support, we can truly help our students obtain the peak of their musical and performance capabilities. Please encourage them through good times and bad so that their experiences will be as fulfilling as possible. Push them to get involved in as many performance opportunities as possible. TCHS has a wealth of ensembles including marching band, pep bands, dance team, winter guard, jazz band, concert groups, etc. The more that each of us puts into this program, the more that we will get out of it. I want to express a sincere thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your students' high school years. It is a great honor to be associated with such fine young men and women.

Parents, please become involved in our booster organization. There is a place for everyone. There is a variety of different committees and tasks that must be filled and carried out each year. We cannot have the band program our students deserve without your help! You will not regret the time you spend supporting your student and his or her friends during their high school years. Each of you are the tireless workers that make my job easy and enjoyable on a daily basis.

This year's halftime show entitled "Maximum Rock" (thanks Daniel Moore) is based on the popular rock tunes of the 1980s "Hair Bands." Selections include the dynamic hits of Queen, Journey, Poison, Aerosmith, Warrant, and Def Leppard. The show will venture to take you, the fan, on a musical journey through the doors and into the aisles of a live rock concert setting. The Monster Ballads of the 80's are some of the most familiar and beloved in all of pop music. This show will prove great fun to play, and hopefully it will be great music to hear and see as well!

It is my wish that this year in band will help each student take one step closer to becoming a responsible, contributing, loyal citizen of our community. Students, we hope that through your study of music, you will learn that happiness in life occurs as we set goals and strive to reach them through team work and tenacious pursuit. Please take your immense responsibilities to yourself, your school, and this organization seriously. Your character, your reputation, and your development as young adults are on the line each time that you assemble together.

Good luck in the coming year. If I can ever be of any help, please feel free to come by, email or call me. My door is always open. I am here to serve you and your students while together we strive to reach new heights.

Sincerely,

Mark Andrews
Director of Bands TCHS
